About Sonairte
Sonairte is an Ecology Visitor Center located on the banks of the river Nanny in Laytown, Co. Meath. With an organic walled garden dating back to the 1750’s, we produce a wide variety of organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants and flowers. Our eco-shop sells a wide range of ecological and fair trade goods. The Sonairte café serves a range of delicious vegetarian and vegan food.
The Role
We are looking for a chef with a passion for preparing delicious vegetarian food.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing seasonal menus
- Preparation and cooking of all meals to the highest standard.
- Working with the head gardener to ensure that the café & garden are working in tandem.
- Maintaining food safety records and ensuring HACCP compliance within the café.
- Sourcing all ingredients, managing suppliers, deliveries, shopping.
- Stock taking and inventory of kitchen food & supplies
- Supervising, training and directing kitchen and service staff as required.
- Minimizing wastage and maximizing recycling and composting.
- Ensuring consistency in meal taste, portion sizes and presentation.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has a passion for vegetarian and vegan cooking and wants to share that with others.
- Has prior experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
- Is available to work weekends / 8am to 5pm Thursday to Sunday.
- Has HACCP Level 2 certification
- Has a full driving license
- Is able to work as part of a team
