Sonairte was founded by members of the local community and derives all its support from that community. As part of its commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability its intention is to provide stable long term employment to as many people as possible.

Sonairte acts as a resource to the local community, providing many free services. We have a free information centre and answer hundreds of phone and email questions every year.  We also write sustainable living columns for local papers and provide a regular organic gardening slot on LMFM’s Late Lunch.

We also provide both free and paid outreach services to school and community gardens. Grants are available to both schools and community organisations to pay our staff for visits.  The centre also provides a venue for other community events such as last year’s Sports Information Day, which provided a platform for local community sports groups to involve local families in a wide range of activities.

Should your community group have ideas or require a specific course please contact the centre.
