In 2021 Sonairte was delighted to obtain funding via LEADER  ( grant no. MEA111477) for a Biodiversity Action Plan for East Meath which is available to download from our website HERE

One of the Actions identified was to establish a native tree nursery here at Sonairte and we were delighted and very grateful to receive follow up funding via the Local Government Biodiversity Action Fund  in 2022 and 2023 to do so.

Please join Sonairte & Billy Flynn from  Flynn Furney Ecology, together with invited community groups and individuals to  celebrate our new tree nursery for the ecology centre.

Billy Flynn will guide us on how to identify native tree species and will  talk about the importance of indigenous trees for the local environment, and how we can foster sustainable and enriching relationships with local biota.

There will be an opportunity to meet Mark and Ray who look after the native tree nursery established here in Sonairte  and to see how it is progressing. We will be looking for volunteers and ideas to help with protecting our local biodiversity.
