Sonairte the National Ecology Centre offers internships throughout the year, giving interns an opportunity to work on a variety of different projects and gain valuable experience in a number of areas, including:

An Exciting new Volunteer Opportunity for a Marketing and Administrative Intern has just become available

 

Sonairte: The National Ecology Centre seeks a Marketing and Administrative Intern: The successful candidate will collaborate with our Administrative Manager to implement our Marketing and Communications Strategy over a 3 month period.

Working with the Sonairte Membership Coordinator, you will be involved with research, implementing strategies for increasing membership, and designing marketing material.

Ever thought about doing some voluntary work ? Why not spend some time as a volunteer at Sonairte ? Sonairte’s volunteers play key roles in its management. All ages are welcome and any amount of time you can offer is appreciated. We have a wide range of activities that we can use any skills you have to offer. There are many interesting projects running at any one time in the centre. These include organic gardening, working with renewable energy, cooking, marketing, events management and nature conservation.

Sonairte is an interactive visitor centre promoting ecological awareness and sustainable living. Our site is divided into the following areas: Organic Garden, Nature Trail and River Walk, an EcoShop and Cafe, beekeeping museum, and an Information Centre. Sonairte has been certified as an organic food producer since 1986 and has been teaching School and Community environmental based courses since its establishment. We are now seeking a Communications and Marketing Intern to help implement our marketing strategy as part of a three-month project.

The Successful Candidate will:

●               Have good IT and presentation skills

●                Be self-directed with the ability to work independently.

●                Be a team player with an open, enthusiastic  and flexible attitude

●               Be computer literate including Microsoft Office suite

●               Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal

●               Some graphic and web design work/experience would be an advantage

Working hours: Three to four days a week

Salary: This is an unpaid position, with the opportunity to gain invaluable working experience in a customer focused environment.

Participants will gain experience in:
General office administration, Business development, Event Co-ordination, Online Marketing & PR; Social Media & Marketing; Spreadsheet Database Management; Understanding and Promoting the Business Case for Sustainability; Office Administration and reception.

GARDENING AND SUPPORT AT SONAIRTE

GARDENING SUPPORT: Wednesday’s, 12-5pm; Thursdays 12-5pm.

WEEKEND GARDEN SUPPORT: Water and open polytunnels. Harvest crops for Farmers Market, Gardening experience required.

WEEDING COURTYARDS: Once a week for 2 hours – As we do not use any chemicals, we need to physically do our own weeding, and you could join us for a great chat and some weeding fun!

CAFE SUPPORT: This is a great opportunity to learn and cook delicious vegetarian food. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, jobs includes food prep, serving, wash and clean up. 9.30 – 5.30pm or am/pm options; 1 – 2 days a week/fortnight/ 3 weeks

RECEPTION ASSISTANT: is required to open/close reception, greet visitors, admissions, taking messages Sat and Sun: 10.30- 5.30pm, 10.30-1.30 or 2.30-5.30pm

FUNDRAISING: Experience necessary, Scope to work from home. 6 month commitment.

EVENTS COORDINATOR: Experience necessary, must have own car for event promotion

CLEANER: 2 hour shift twice per week. All equipment provided.

Volunteer at the fortnightly Sunday FARMERS MARKET at Sonairte, if you enjoy sales and socialising this is the job for you.

HARVEST GARDEN PRODUCE: Every Sundays 1pm- 3pm and every 6 weeks, 9.30 – 3pm

SET UP STALL AND SELL PRODUCE: 1 Sunday every 6 weeks, 10.00 -4.30pm

WEEKLY FRIDAY BALBRIGGAN Farmers Market if you enjoy sales and socialising this is the job for you:

DRIVERS: 7.30am – 2pm. Please note: Drivers licence required to pick up produce in van from Sonairte and return.

WEEKLY SATURDAY DUBLIN FOOD COOP MARKET, DUBLIN 8

SET UP STALL AND SELL PRODUCE: 1 Saturday every 3- 6 weeks,

DRIVERS 7.30am – 5.30pm, must have drivers licence to pick up produce in van from Sonairte and return.

We also run VSI (Volunteer Services International)camps during the summer and there are always people from all over Ireland and the rest of the World working here. We think living sustainably should be fun, so we also have social events for volunteers throughout the year.
