Biodiversity

Come celebrate Biodiversity Day May 22nd at Sonairte.

Visitors to Sonairte can learn about ecology and biodiversity in two ways, by taking one of our new ecology and environmental education courses, or informally, by walking our nature trail. By following the Nature Trail and River Walk you can see a wide range of Irish habitats including a Special Protected Area for bird conservation.linnet-on-the-shore-2 Bring a camera and view your pictures in our gallery. Maps and leaflets are available from reception.

The International Day of Biodiversity is celebrated in May and is an important day to highlight the variety of wildlife in your area. It also can be great fun and an excuse to get outdoors!

Why not take some snaps of our beautiful Meath while you’re at it and submit your pictures for a 2012 Meath postcard collection!! The photographs must have Meath’s landscapes or natural world at their heart and can feature people, places, plants or wildlife. The winning images will contain your school or community groups name while also promoting Ireland’s biodiversity. The winning photographers will also receive a framed print of their image.
